Learning rice production experience from Vietnamese farmers
According to the Cuban Small Farmers Association, they were highly impressed by how Vietnam overcame difficulties to achieve its current agricultural results.
The main purpose of the visit was to learn about:
- Intensive farming techniques to increase rice productivity
- Sustainable models for fruit trees and coffee cultivation
- The application of high technology in livestock and aquaculture
President Félix Duarte Ortega emphasized: “We will learn from your experience to apply in our country, especially as Cuba needs to increase domestic food production.”

A new step in Vietnam - Cuba agricultural cooperation
Beyond the visit in Dong Nai Province, the relationship between the Cuban Small Farmers Association and the Vietnam Farmers’ Union has also been reflected in concrete results.
The rice production cooperation project in Cuba (Los Palacios district) achieved a record yield of 7.2 tons per hectare in 2025 - more than four times higher than the local average. This is clear evidence of the effectiveness of applying Vietnamese rice varieties and techniques in Cuba.
Conclusion
The visit of the Cuban Small Farmers Association is not only a diplomatic activity but also opens a new chapter for the development of farmers in both countries.
With strong support from Vietnam, it is expected that Cuba’s agriculture will see significant progress in the near future.
