FROM THE FIELD: A FARMER’S EXPERIENCE USING NPK CON CÒ IN DURIAN ORCHARDS
28 Aug 2026

NPK CON CÒ for durian has been used by Mr. Duong Van Day for over 20 years, from shoot development to flowering and fruit growth.
The story of using NPK CON CÒ for durian in Dong Thap
Durian is a high-value crop that requires careful management of nutrition, root development, shoot growth, flowering, and fruit development. Therefore, choosing NPK CON CÒ for durian should be based on tree condition and actual cultivation conditions.
In Long Quoi Hamlet, Ngu Hiep Commune, Dong Thap Province, Mr. Duong Van Day has more than 30 years of durian-growing experience and has been recognized locally for many years as an outstanding farmer. He currently manages two orchards covering a total of 2.7 hectares, with more than 300 fruit-bearing durian trees.
According to Mr. Day, the orchards achieve an average yield of approximately 100 kg/tree/year.
More than 20 years of using NPK CON CÒ 15-15-15+9S+0,05B
Mr. Day previously used several different fertilizers, but the results did not meet his expectations. After testing NPK CON CÒ 15-15-15+9S+0,05B on his 2-hectare orchard and observing a positive crop response, he continued using the product for more than 20 years.
Based on his practical experience, NPK CON CÒ for durian has been used throughout different growth stages, with application rates adjusted according to tree vigor and orchard conditions.
Maintaining a consistent durian fertilization program has helped him monitor crop development and adjust durian nutrition according to each growth stage.
Durian fertilization program applied in the orchard
As part of his durian orchard care, Mr. Day shared how he applies NPK CON CÒ for durian during the main growth stages:
- Shoot development stage: Apply NPK CON CÒ 15-15-15+9S+0,05B together with additional Nitrogen (N), with the rate adjusted according to tree condition.
- Flower induction, flowering, and fruit development stages: Continue applying NPK CON CÒ 15-15-15+9S+0,05B, adjusting the rate according to tree condition and each growth stage.
This durian fertilization program is based on Mr. Day’s practical farming experience. Application rates and methods are for reference only and should be adjusted according to tree age, tree vigor, growth stage, cultivation conditions, and actual soil characteristics.
Proactive Cadmium testing in orchard soil
As export requirements for durian become increasingly strict, particularly regarding Cadmium (Cd), Mr. Day proactively contacted specialized units to analyze soil samples from his two orchards.
According to the results he shared:
- The 2-hectare orchard, where NPK CON CÒ for durian and NPK CON CÒ 15-15-15+9S+0,05B have been used for more than 20 years, recorded Cadmium (Cd) at 0.1 mg/kg.
- The 0.7-hectare orchard, where a different fertilization program was tested, recorded Cadmium (Cd) at 0.4 mg/kg.
According to Mr. Day, the 0.1 mg/kg result was below the reference level of Cd < 0.5 mg/kg that he had been advised for durian-growing soil.
These figures represent results from specific soil samples and should not be considered the sole basis for evaluating the impact of any fertilizer. Farmers are encouraged to conduct soil testing through qualified professional units to support appropriate cultivation decisions.
Adjusting durian nutrition according to actual orchard conditions
Mr. Day’s experience shows that selecting NPK CON CÒ for durian should be combined with regular crop observation, soil monitoring, and adjustments to durian nutrition at different growth stages.
In durian orchard care, farmers should consider tree vigor, root development, shoot growth, flowering, fruit development, and soil conditions rather than applying the same fertilizer rate to every orchard.
Developing an appropriate durian fertilization program and periodically monitoring soil indicators can also contribute to more stable and sustainable orchard management over the long term.
Conclusion
Mr. Duong Van Day’s experience of using NPK CON CÒ for durian for more than 20 years provides a practical reference for crop and soil management. Baconco continues to support farmers with suitable durian nutrition solutions based on tree condition, growth stage, and actual cultivation conditions.
