Coconut growing area exceeds 120,000 hectares, over 50% of the country
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, after the provincial merger of the former provinces of Bến Tre, Vĩnh Long, and Trà Vinh, the new Vĩnh Long province now has nearly 120,000 hectares of coconut growing area, equivalent to more than half of Vietnam’s total coconut area. Among this, about 26,000 hectares are cultivated organically, and the area continues to expand. The organic farming model helps increase product value and better meet the requirements of high-end export markets.
Improving product quality
Thanks to active investment in technology innovation and improved farming practices, the quality of coconuts and processed coconut products in the province has been enhanced. The combination of green development and value chains creates opportunities for Vĩnh Long’s coconut growing area to build a strong brand and meet high quality standards.
This not only raises prestige in international markets but also brings added value, ensuring stability from production to consumption.

Expanding plantation codes and export markets
Currently, Vĩnh Long has 171 export plantation codes for coconuts, covering more than 11,500 hectares. This is an important foundation for coconuts and coconut products from the province to penetrate deeper into potential markets.
The main export market at present is China, along with orders to the United States, Europe, Japan, and other EU countries. Market diversification helps reduce risks and increases stable consumption capacity in international markets.
Coconut sector development strategy to 2050
The agriculture sector of Vĩnh Long province is implementing a comprehensive development plan for coconuts to 2030, with orientation toward 2050. The goal is to build a sustainable coconut industry linked with plantation coding, product orientation for export, and the establishment of concentrated production areas.
In addition, the province focuses on developing value chains, improving product quality, applying high technology, promoting circular production, and strengthening deep processing of coconut products.
Product diversification and strong branding
Diversification and deep processing allow Vĩnh Long’s coconut growing area to better meet domestic and international markets demand. The province’s products are aimed at high-quality market segments, in line with the trend of green and safe consumption.
Building a strong brand in key export markets is a crucial goal, thereby affirming Vĩnh Long’s leading position after the provincial merger.
