RICE-SHRIMP CARE DURING DROUGHT AND SALINITY IN 2026 WITH THE COFOLI DUO

Rice-shrimp care during drought and salinity requires careful water, nutrient, and crop management, especially 10–25 days after sowing.

Rice-shrimp care during drought and salinity requires early-season attention

September is the sowing period for rice-shrimp farming in many areas of the Mekong Delta. In 2026, an increasing El Niño trend may raise the risk of dry conditions and more unpredictable drought and salinity toward the end of the year.

Therefore, rice-shrimp care during drought and salinity should focus on water management, salinity monitoring, and appropriate nutrient supplementation, especially 10–25 days after sowing, when young rice plants are still developing their root systems.

Drought and salinity stress in rice affects roots and crop growth

Drought and salinity stress in rice can reduce root activity, limiting the plant’s ability to absorb water and nutrients. High temperatures and low soil moisture may also increase water loss, affect photosynthesis, slow growth, and reduce tillering.

In rice-shrimp farming systems, residual salts left in the soil after the shrimp crop may continue to affect the root zone when freshwater supply is limited.

During rice-shrimp care during drought and salinity, farmers should regularly monitor root condition, leaf color, and tillering to adjust crop management accordingly.

COFOLI ORGANIC supports crops under adverse conditions

Farmers may consider using COFOLI ORGANIC during the period of 10–25 days after sowing to provide additional foliar nutrition.

COFOLI ORGANIC contains seaweed-derived ingredients, 7% organic matter, and 6% Potassium (K), contributing to:

• Supporting plant metabolism under dry and saline conditions.
• Helping roots continue to develop and absorb nutrients.
• Supporting crop vigor during the early growth stage.

Supplementing foliar nutrition can be considered when root activity is affected by unfavorable soil or water conditions.

COFOLI CALIMAG provides nutrients for stems, sheaths, and leaves

Along with COFOLI ORGANIC, COFOLI CALIMAG provides Calcium (Ca) 10%, Magnesium (Mg) 0.72%, Nitrogen (N) 10%, and micronutrients including Iron (Fe), Manganese (Mn), Zinc (Zn), and Boron (B).

Its nutritional roles include:

• Calcium (Ca) supports stem and leaf sheath structure.
• Magnesium (Mg) contributes to greener leaves and photosynthetic activity.
• COFOLI CALIMAG supports crop vigor during the tillering stage.
• Provides foliar nutrition when root nutrient uptake is affected by unfavorable conditions.

Combining COFOLI ORGANIC and COFOLI CALIMAG can be considered as part of rice-shrimp care during drought and salinity.

Key considerations for rice-shrimp farming under drought and salinity

To help reduce the effects of drought and salinity stress in rice, farmers should:

• Check water salinity before introducing water into the field.
• Monitor leaf color, root condition, and tillering.
• Manage water proactively to avoid excessively dry fields or sudden increases in salinity.
• Consider combining COFOLI ORGANIC and COFOLI CALIMAG during 10–25 days after sowing.

Application rates and timing should follow product label recommendations and be adjusted according to rice variety, crop vigor, water salinity, soil condition, and actual cultivation conditions.

Proactive nutrition supports better crop adaptation

Under fluctuating weather and water conditions, rice-shrimp care during drought and salinity should combine effective water management with appropriate nutrient supplementation.

Regular field monitoring and timely foliar nutrition can help support crop vigor, especially during early growth and when root activity is affected by adverse environmental conditions.

Conclusion

Rice-shrimp care during drought and salinity should focus on water supply, salinity levels, and nutrition from the early stages of crop development. COFOLI ORGANIC and COFOLI CALIM
