[NEWS] VINH LONG HAS 832 GROWING AREA AND PACKING FACILITY CODES – EXPANDING AGRICULTURAL EXPORT OPPORTUNITIES

Vinh Long growing area codes now total 832 growing areas and packing facilities, supporting traceability and expanding agricultural exports.

Vinh Long growing area codes continue to expand

According to information from the Vinh Long Sub-Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection on September 24, 2026, the province currently has 832 Vinh Long growing area codes and packing facility codes.

The expansion of Vinh Long growing area codes contributes to more standardized production, improved traceability, and greater market access for Vinh Long agricultural products.

664 growing areas serve agricultural exports

Of the total codes issued, Vinh Long has 664 export growing areas, covering more than 26,154 hectares.

These export growing areas focus on key crops such as durian, rambutan, longan, sweet potato, pomelo, and coconut.

Through the system of Vinh Long growing area codes, eligible agricultural products can serve agricultural exports to markets including China, the United States, New Zealand, the EU, South Korea, and Australia.

This provides an important foundation for Vinh Long agricultural products to expand market access and better meet importer requirements.

Export packing facilities strengthen the production chain

In addition to growing areas, the province currently has 107 export packing facilities and 61 growing area codes serving the domestic market, covering more than 2,738 hectares.

These export packing facilities help connect production, preliminary processing, and distribution while supporting product information control throughout the supply chain.

The parallel development of Vinh Long growing area codes and packing facilities is an important factor supporting local agricultural exports.

Stronger monitoring of Vinh Long growing area codes

Beyond expanding the number of codes, the local agricultural sector is also strengthening inspections and monitoring to maintain the quality of approved growing areas and packing facilities.

To date, Vinh Long has monitored 32 growing area codes and 20 packing facility codes, while also receiving 20 applications for new code issuance and monitoring.

Regular monitoring of Vinh Long growing area codes helps maintain production conditions, support traceability, and improve compliance with market requirements.

Traceability supports changes in farming practices

According to the Vinh Long Department of Agriculture and Environment, the development of Vinh Long growing area codes also contributes to changes in farming practices.

Farmers in production areas are guided to:

• Maintain cultivation records.
• Control pests and other harmful organisms.
• Follow food safety regulations.
• Ensure product traceability.

These requirements help production become more closely aligned with market standards and contribute to increasing the value of Vinh Long agricultural products.

Expanding opportunities for agricultural exports from Vinh Long

In the coming period, the province will continue to closely manage existing Vinh Long growing area codes while supporting farmers and cooperatives in developing production areas that meet required standards.

Maintaining export growing areas, improving the quality of export packing facilities, and strengthening traceability will continue to play an important role in agricultural exports.

Through these efforts, Vinh Long agricultural products can gain further opportunities to improve quality, value, and competitiveness in both domestic and international markets.

Conclusion

The system of Vinh Long growing area codes is helping standardize production, strengthen traceability, and expand agricultural exports. With 832 growing area and packing facility codes, the province continues to build a stronger foundation for increasing the value of local agricultural products.
