[NEWS] FARMERS PROACTIVELY ADOPT TECHNICAL ADVANCES

Ca Mau summer-autumn rice farmers are adopting technical advances, balanced fertilization, and pest management to improve production efficiency.

Ca Mau summer-autumn rice benefits from technical advances

In the 2026 summer-autumn crop, farmers in Ca Mau Province planted more than 94,000 hectares of rice, exceeding 100% of the planned area. Under alternating rainy and sunny conditions with high humidity, many farmers have proactively applied technical advances to manage Ca Mau summer-autumn rice, reduce pest and disease risks, and improve production efficiency.

Monitoring crop nutrition, pests, diseases, and field conditions has become increasingly important to help Ca Mau summer-autumn rice maintain stable growth under changing weather conditions.

Pest management for Ca Mau summer-autumn rice

According to the Ca Mau Agricultural Extension Center, the panicle initiation and heading stages may face increased risks from rice blast on panicles, grain discoloration, brown planthoppers, and leaf folders.

Therefore, pest management for Ca Mau summer-autumn rice should include regular field inspections, particularly after rainfall, to detect harmful organisms at an early stage.

Farmers are also encouraged to apply technical advances and follow the “four rights” principle when using crop protection products, helping improve pest management efficiency in rice fields.

Balanced fertilization supports stable rice growth

One of the recommendations for Ca Mau summer-autumn rice production is balanced fertilization with Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), and Potassium (K), while avoiding excessive Nitrogen (N) application.

Balanced fertilization helps maintain appropriate crop growth, improve nutrient use, and reduce the risk of lodging.

Farmers may also increase the use of organic fertilizers and bio-organic fertilizers to improve soil conditions, provide additional nutrients, and support healthier rice growth.

Applying technical advances in crop management

Alongside proper crop nutrition, farmers are encouraged to adopt improved cultivation practices and regularly inspect their fields.

These technical advances help farmers manage seed, fertilizer, crop protection products, and other production inputs more effectively.

During the flowering stage, farmers are advised to maintain a field water level of approximately 5–7 cm and provide necessary micronutrients to support pollination and grain formation.

Ca Mau summer-autumn rice aims for higher production efficiency

Field experience shows that many farmers in Ca Mau have proactively followed technical advances recommended by local agricultural authorities.

Through regular field monitoring, balanced fertilization, and appropriate pest control, Ca Mau summer-autumn rice can maintain better growing conditions while contributing to lower input costs and improved economic efficiency.

These practices also help farmers respond more proactively to unfavorable weather during the production season.

Moving toward sustainable farming

The application of technical advances in Ca Mau summer-autumn rice production not only supports more efficient fertilizer use but also strengthens pest management and contributes to sustainable farming.

Maintaining sustainable farming practices together with appropriate technical procedures will remain an important direction for improving local rice production efficiency.

Conclusion

Ca Mau summer-autumn rice production requires regular field monitoring, appropriate fertilization, and effective pest management. Proactive adoption of suitable technical practices can improve production efficiency and support more sustainable farming.
