To increase the production of dragon fruit orchards in Binh Thuan province, Baconco worked with local farmers to test high-quality products using scientific methods. Baconco fertilizer was tested on 1,000 m² of dragon fruit in Ham Thuan Nam, Binh Thuan province. This dragon fruit garden had been cultivated for many years and was suffering from concerns such as fungal disease-infected old branches (vines), rot, yellowing, and a lack of new shoots.

Fertilization process for dragon fruit

Given the state of the dragon fruit garden, Baconco's agricultural engineers used the following fertilization method:

  • 15 days before illumination: Combine 25-kilogram NPK Con Co BASEOS 20-10-10+6S+0.045B fertilizer with 50 kg Organiconco organic fertilizer.
  • Flower bud stage: Apply 25 kg NPK Con Co BASEOS 20-10-10+6S+0.045B fertilizer and 50 kg Organiconco organic fertilizer. Also use Supertan Vang 15-30-15+2S+0.6Mg+TE, Cofoli PK500, and Super Armor.
  • Flower boosting stage: Apply 50 kg of NPK Con Co 20-20-15+TE AVS fertilizer. Also, spray Cofoli Calimag, Cobio Root, and Myfatop. Also, spray Cobio Root, Cofoli Amino, and Super Armor together.
  • Ridge removal stage: Apply 25 kg of NPK Con Co 16-16-16+5S+0.1Zn+0.05B fertilizer. Furthermore, spray Cofoli Calimag and combine it with three other products: Cofoli Calibo, Cobio Root, and Myfatop.
  • Fruit enlargement stage: Apply 25 kg of NPK Con Co 16-16-16+5S+0.1Zn+0.05B fertilizer while spraying Cofoli Calimag, Cofoli Max 36, and Myfatop.
  • Fruit coloring stage: Spray the fruit with Potassium Borate (2g/liter of water) and Cofoli K300 (2ml/liter of water), then apply 125g of Kalisunfat Con Co fertilizer per post.

Effectiveness of adequate fertilization for dragon fruit

After testing Baconco fertilizers and plant protection products in the dragon fruit garden and comparing them to the control, we discovered that:

  • The earlier disease spots on the Baconco garden's dragon fruit bushes had dried.
  • The older vines grew plumper and greener.
  • The immature shoots in the Baconco dragon fruit garden grew strongly, becoming larger and thicker.
  • The Baconco garden and the control produced the same quantity of fruits, with an average of 20 per post.

Notably, after harvest, the dragon fruit garden employing Baconco fertilizer produced up to 11 kg per post, which was 1.1 kg more than the control garden. As a result, farmers made a profit of 12,700,000 VND, which was 1,400,000 VND more than the control.

These are the guidelines for successfully fertilizing dragon fruit. To attain great yields and good fruit quality, dragon fruit trees must be properly cared for and their nutritional needs met. This will allow the plants to grow quickly and yield delicious, sweet fruits. We believe Baconco's insights have armed farmers with the knowledge they need to improve productivity in their dragon fruit gardens in future seasons.
